Born in Canton, Ohio (1949) to a businessman and an artist. My parents moved to Miami and I grew up there. Photography intrigued me when I was around eight. I spent a good deal of time learning about composition at my mother’s knees. Lighting and color schemes were learned through trial and error.

My education in photography is continuing as should be standard practice for all photographers. I have a mentor, who prompted me to use distortions of reality to elicit an emotional response. I also seek out other photographers whom I respect to provide input and insight.

I graduated from the University of Miami in 1971 with a bachelor’s degree and earned my Master’s degree from New York University in 1974. Santa Fe Workshops - Joyce Tennyson.
